UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year. It determines eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor posts in Indian universities. Candidates qualifying for JRF receive a monthly fellowship of ₹37,000 for two years. Assistant Professors can earn between ₹31,000 to ₹37,000 per month as per UGC pay scales. The exam is held in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode with two papers – Paper I (Teaching Aptitude) and Paper II (Subject Knowledge). There is no negative marking, and total duration is 3 hours.
